Unsuccessful weight loss

Why do I not lose weight even after dieting?

Consult an expert dietician for personalized diet plan. If it still doesn’t work, don’t be disheartened. Weight loss methods like dieting and exercise might not work for some people.

This is because obesity is caused by faults in the mechanisms that control our “set point” weight. This set point of weight is what our body considers as normal weight even though it may be higher than ideal. When we diet, our body thinks it is starving. So, it releases messengers that tell our body to gain the weight back and get back to our set point. These messengers make us feel hungrier and cause our muscles to burn less energy. Because of this, our shed weight comes back.
